How to run a quiz night

  1. Create the quiz. Choose your rounds and categories — 46 to pick from, from film and music to history and sport.
  2. Print the QR poster. Put it on the tables or the bar. The quiz is saved on your phone.
  3. Open the quiz on the night and tap “Host this quiz”. Teams scan the code and join.
  4. Run the rounds. Host-led or automatic, with breaks between rounds for a drink.
  5. Reveal the results when you're ready — every team sees its place and its answers.

Do players need to download an app?

No. Players scan the QR code with their phone camera and play in the web browser.

How many teams can play?

Up to 40 teams with one phone each, or up to 15 teams where teammates use up to 3 phones each. You choose when you make the quiz. Teammates join their team with a 4-digit team code, and you can see who gave each answer.

Where do the questions come from?

A bank of 7,500 questions in 46 categories, each one checked, with five difficulty levels. Nothing goes out of date: there are no questions about current office-holders or records that can be broken.

What if the Wi-Fi or mobile signal is poor?

Phones reconnect automatically and keep their answers. You can also print team answer sheets and run the quiz on paper.

Can I print the quiz?

Yes. Download a quizmaster answer sheet, team answer sheets (blank, or with the questions on) and a score sheet as PDFs, 30 questions to a page — so you can run the whole pub quiz on paper if you prefer.

Can I add my own questions?

Yes. Tap to swap any question for a different one, edit a question, or write your own questions and answers into any round.

How many questions should a pub quiz have?

Most pub quizzes have 6 to 8 rounds of 10 questions and last about two hours with breaks. With Pub Quiz Generator you choose from 1 to 12 rounds and how many questions go in each.

Do you store my quizzes or players' details?

Quizzes are saved on the quizmaster's own phone. Players only give a team name. See the privacy notice.
